How do we view the death penalty? Is it a firing squad, lethal injection, or an electric chair? None of these bring anything but horror to mind for me ...yet, there are other death penalties that are often not even thought about.

To add to it all, consider the horror of having the authorities deem that death is the only solution, yet the fact is ...that family member is innocent.

Who are these authorities?

We are.

Isn't a death penalty for the most innocent and defenseless of lives ...that which takes place during a routine abortion?

We have made that a political issue.  And when asked about the death penalty, the polls show that more than twice as many Democrats are against the death penalty ...yet, significantly more than twice as many Democrats think abortion should be an option. Why the difference?  And is there any consideration for whether there is any crime committed, who committed it, or what threat is being posed by the existence of any 'said individual'. Or is the person only a threat to our own existence ...protecting our fragile world of self, with all its built-in impulses?

Those who lean towards or favor the view of 'Pro-choice', are at some level accepting or supporting abortion.  How many of us enjoy telling someone else that we feel they are wrong?  How many of us like being told we are wrong?  It seems that in order to protect our cherished views, that often we accept others views ... so as not to feel they will reject ours. It does not tread on, nor infringed upon others ...and becomes a mutual agreement.  I see nothing wrong with getting along, but it seems that part of the consequence of that is on occasion ...dodging responsibility.

What else does politics decide upon.  Well, I'm not a person who is involved in representing anyone else in politics, though I try to keep informed and interested ...and I do try to represent the ideas I feel God has put on my heart, though admittedly there are things I have concluded by myself.  Perhaps God has not yet shown me the error I've made in reasoning out my perspective.  But, it is not usually just my perspective.  In addition to reading the Bible, I've read some history books, and I see the past errors of others ...firmly believing that complacency has brought some very bad results.

During the Wild West, the law was often simple, though difficult to carry out.  But, even in advanced civilizations there can be campaigns for increased concern of its citizens ...offering many popular entitlements, that only blaze the same trail that many societies in the past have followed.  Hitler stirred the strivings of a depressed people, claiming to want to unite the hard working populous and meet their needs.  Stalin found the hard working farmer's independence as a threat ...and targeted them first. Mao's failure to respond politically to help his own people during 'The Great Leap Forward', led them into devastating and catastrophic famine and death.

Everyone makes mistakes, and governments are made up of people ...so, mistakes will continue to happen.  But, the reason that 'history repeats itself' ...is because we don't ever seem to learn from it.

Updating the US Constitution
Forging a new vision that our Founding Fathers didn't understand
Taxing big business more to provide opportunity for all
Challenging policy to gain more civil rights
Encourage all protests around the world as healthy democratic choices
Firming up Unions and rally people to unite
Establish new school curriculum for a new age
Government regulation for a safer environment
Cohesive reporting in the media and use of internet to inform
Family goals & values are secondary to that of the community
Establish family planning as improved mental health
Encourage social reform and the free expression of it
Allow no expression of personal religious or moral stance in public places
Government involvement in health care & health decisions
Penalize all those who hinder progress & work against the goals of the populous

These are all stated goals by the Communist Party ...which I believe was the type of rule that most all our courageous soldiers are fighting against.

Many large and powerful countries have potential strivings for tempting and deceiving ...pointing the finger at other wrongs within their midst, as not to draw attention of their own deliberate ambitions.  There are those who feel they benefit from a dictatorship.  The commune aspect often serves only to benefit the Jekyll and Hyde personality ...to draw you in.

Yes, there are many death penalties, none of which I feel are anything short of horrific.  Yet, amid all this ...there is one more I must mention, and it is the worst.

The ultimate death penalty ...is eternal death.

There are two paths.  Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it."

You've heard the saying, "It's my way, or the highway!"  Well, it's either God's way, or the low way.

If we are against what God has said, what He stands for, and what He has set forth for us in the way of standards and guidelines for living ...then how can we say we follow Him?  And if we are not following Him ...can we say we are for Him?  And if we are not for Him, then who are we for?

You can claim neutrality, but Jesus said, "So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth."

You may claim you are not against Him, but are you 'for' Him if you can't acknowledge the very thing He gives us?

Today, the Bible is not believed by many, so what record does the 'many' believe in?  Do we just make it up as we go along?

All that being said, let it be clear that we are not judged by what we do. So, when the Bible says that faith without works is dead ...we must clearly look to want Jesus has done, and new life through Him. We may not follow Him to everyone's satisfaction, but let's avoid claiming that God is supportive of the wrongs we do.  A life preserver may keep you afloat ...but who wants to forever float around, when you can be drawn in by Jesus?
